Kentaro Nagazumi, Director General of the International Department of the Japanese Red Cross Society, paid a working visit to Lviv

During the visit, the Japanese Red Cross delegation was introduced to key rehabilitation projects implemented with the participation of the Ukrainian Red Cross. In particular, the representatives visited the UNBROKEN rehabilitation centre, a facility in the village of Briukhovychi that is undergoing reconstruction, and a modern prosthetics centre based at UNBROKEN.

The meeting with the volunteers of the Lviv district branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross was particularly informative. The delegation learned more about the team’s daily work, the challenges faced by the volunteers, and the initiatives implemented at the local level.

The visit also included a meeting with Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, where the parties discussed future cooperation, opportunities for expanding joint efforts, and sharing expertise between the city and the Japanese Red Cross.

It is important to highlight that the Japanese Red Cross Society is a key partner in rebuilding the rehabilitation centre in Briukhovychi. This partnership was made possible by a memorandum of understanding signed in June 2023 between the Ukrainian Red Cross, Lviv City Council, the Lithuanian Central Project Management Agency (CPVA), and the First Territorial Medical Union of Lviv.
