On-site verification visits have begun for the Livelihoods Support Programme in rural communities across the Kharkiv region

The Ukrainian Red Cross, in partnership with the World Food Programme, has launched a crucial phase of its project — on-site verification visits to households that have applied to take part.

So far, around 300 visits have been conducted, with more taking place every day.

The purpose of the verification process is to ensure that support for developing sustainable livelihoods reaches those who need it most. This is a key step towards transparency, fair distribution, and the overall effectiveness of the programme. We are grateful to the communities of the Kharkiv region for their openness and cooperation!

Even more impactful steps lie ahead, including consultations, training, mentoring, and, of course, targeted support to help rural families strengthen and grow their small businesses.

It is worth noting that the project provides assistance to residents of rural communities in Savyntsi and Barvinkove (Kharkiv region) in the form of a greenhouse kit (greenhouse and drip irrigation system), a small mechanisation kit (walk-behind tractor, wheelbarrow, etc.), a gardening kit (water tank, pump, etc.), or financial support for farm development activities such as livestock farming, beekeeping, and food processing.
