The Ukrainian Red Cross Joins World Blood Donor Day: Over 20 Events Across the Country

Every year on 14 June, the world marks World Blood Donor Day — an opportunity to thank those who voluntarily donate blood and save lives every day. The Ukrainian Red Cross has traditionally supported this important initiative because blood donation is not just a good deed; it is a profound act of solidarity and humanity.

This year, the Ukrainian Red Cross is organising more than 20 events in various regions of the country for children, young people, and adults. These activities are designed not only to inform but also to inspire action.

What we’re doing:

  • Information support

Our volunteers and consultants from the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Programme hold themed sessions, distribute educational materials on the benefits of blood donation, and offer helpful advice to future donors.

  • Cooperation with blood centres

In collaboration with local blood services, we organise donor drives and promote a strong culture of blood donation.

  • Leading by example

Volunteers and staff from Ukrainian Red Cross branches are becoming donors themselves—because change begins with us.

  • Spreading the word

We actively raise public awareness about the importance of blood donation and the life-saving impact it has on those in need.

This cause has become even more urgent since the outbreak of full-scale war, as the number of people in need of donated blood has significantly increased. Every single donor makes an invaluable contribution.

Just 30 minutes of your time could save the lives of three people.

Become a donor — together, we can do more.
