In May, mine risk specialists from the Ukrainian Red Cross continued to inform residents of the Cherkasy region as part of the Raising Awareness of the Risks of Explosive Ordnance project
Over the course of a month, more than 2,000 people were reached across four districts in the region. Meetings took place in schools, higher education institutions, workplaces, and during street events.
The aim is to provide vital information about mine risks to people of all ages and professions.
Ukraine is one of the most heavily mined countries in the world. Remnants of explosive devices can be found even in relatively safe areas, and their consequences are often fatal.
That is why everyone should know:
- What explosive devices look like
- What to do if they are found
- How to respond in the event of detection
Our mission is to share this knowledge with as many people as possible, because even one informed person can save lives — their own and those around them.
