Meeting Between the Leadership of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs and Representatives of the Ukrainian Red Cross: Strengthening Partnership in the Field of Humanitarian Protection
A delegation from the Ukrainian Red Cross, led by Svitlana Avramenko, Head of the Humanitarian Access and Protection Department, visited Odesa State University of Internal Affairs.
During a meeting with the University’s First Vice-Rector, Maksym Korniienko, the parties discussed potential areas for joint action, particularly in enhancing humanitarian awareness among future law enforcement officers. Key topics included the dissemination of knowledge on mine action, international humanitarian law, the protection of civilians, and the principles upheld by the Ukrainian Red Cross.
As part of the visit, representatives of the Ukrainian Red Cross handed over information stands and educational materials to Odesa State University of Internal Affairs.
“Today we had a warm and constructive meeting, during which we discussed the next steps in our partnership aimed at strengthening mine action efforts in educational institutions. We provided informational and visual stands featuring 3D images of explosive devices, so that students, trainees, and beneficiaries can better understand the risks and learn the safety rules needed to avoid danger,” said Svitlana Avramenko.
This partnership contributes to fostering high standards of humanitarian awareness among students, which is particularly important for those preparing for careers in law enforcement.
Odesa State University of Internal Affairs expressed its gratitude to the Ukrainian Red Cross team for their openness to dialogue, the materials provided, and their commitment to implementing joint initiatives.
