The Ukrainian Red Cross launches a mine risk awareness programme in the Poltava region

The threat of mines in Ukraine continues to grow each day. To reduce the risks and raise public awareness, the Ukrainian Red Cross is launching the “Raising Awareness of the Risks of Explosive Devices and Promoting Safer Behaviour” programme in the Poltava region.

Mine risk educators have already completed their training. Once certified, they will begin conducting sessions with local residents to provide information on:

  • types of explosive hazards
  • risks posed by mines and explosive ordnance
  • warning signs and indicators of dangerous areas
  • rules for safer behaviour when encountering suspicious objects

Expanding the reach of mine risk education will enable us to engage more communities through informative sessions and direct interaction.

Our goal is to help people recognise danger and know how to respond — potentially saving lives.

Together, we move towards a safer Ukraine.
