First aid training for the State Emergency Service personnel in the Donetsk region under a 48-hour programme

Every day, rescue workers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) are among the first on the scene in emergencies.

Their actions can save lives before medical teams arrive, which is why the Ukrainian Red Cross provides them with essential first aid training. Last week, the first group of emergency workers from the Donetsk region completed a five-day course, and the second group has already started training.

The course teaches key first aid steps, including how to help people who have fainted, are struggling to breathe, are bleeding heavily, or have injuries from mine blasts, crush syndrome, wounds, and other serious conditions. It also covers emergency preparedness, medical triage, and how to respond to road traffic accidents.Practical exercises are a big part of the training, helping participants remember what to do and build their skills until they become second nature. Trainers use makeup and realistic scenarios to simulate emergencies, which also helps prepare responders mentally for the challenges they may face.

We stand by those in need and continue to equip the SES of Ukraine with vital life-saving skills!
