Modern Water Purification System Installed in Kushuhum Community
Residents of the Kushuhum community in Zaporizhzhia now have reliable access to clean, purified water. This has been made possible through the implementation of the WASH project, supported by the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Specialists from the Zaporizhzhia regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross have installed a modern water purification system capable of treating up to 18,000 litres per day, depending on the level of contamination in the incoming water.
The system operates on the principle of multi-stage filtration: water passes through two pre-filters before undergoing treatment in a reverse osmosis unit. The result is water that is safe for drinking, cooking, and hygiene purposes.
“We sincerely hope that the system we’ve handed over to the community today will serve as a reliable resource for all residents, both in daily life and during emergencies. Access to clean water is a fundamental humanitarian need, and at the Ukrainian Red Cross, we fully understand the importance of supporting communities at risk or lacking a stable water supply. That is why we are working systematically to ensure that everyone has access to safe, high-quality drinking water,” said Oksana Beketova, head of the Zaporizhzhia regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
The WASH project continues its efforts to expand access to safe water in the communities that need it most. The initiative is currently being implemented in the Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions.
