The Ukrainian Red Cross holds events to mark World No Tobacco Day in eleven regions of Ukraine

The Health Promotion and Disease Prevention team of the Ukrainian Red Cross has taken part in the important global event, World No Tobacco Day, which is marked by anti-tobacco campaigns around the world.

Over several days, volunteers and health consultants will deliver information and practical sessions, as well as motivational interviews, reaching hundreds of residents across the Kirovohrad, Odesa, Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi, Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Ternopil, and Poltava regions.

These sessions aim to raise public awareness of the dangers of both active and passive smoking, their impact on physical health, and to encourage people to quit. During the practical workshops and motivational interviews, participants will have the opportunity to develop personalised strategies to stop smoking — either individually or in groups — and explore ways to prevent this harmful habit.

The main aim of the Ukrainian Red Cross’s Health Promotion and Disease Prevention programme is to create favourable conditions and improve people’s quality of life by reducing their exposure to harmful factors and encouraging healthy habits.

Our team applies best practices and expert knowledge to encourage a healthy lifestyle across Ukraine. Quitting smoking is a vital step towards building a healthier nation!
