With the assistance of 37 social helpers, 222 beneficiaries receive crucial social and household services.

Many older adults have been left isolated due to evacuations, the loss of relatives, family members serving in the military or working remotely. As a result, they often find themselves without the necessary support. Many also suffer from chronic illnesses, disabilities, or simply cannot manage daily tasks on their own. This is where the role of social helpers becomes vital.

They help with cooking, delivering groceries, medications, and hygiene products, cleaning, performing personal hygiene tasks, and even ironing clothes. Equally important is the social interaction they provide. For many of the elderly, having someone to talk to can alleviate feelings of loneliness and improve their emotional well-being. This connection helps them feel supported and reminds them that they are not facing their struggles alone.

Home-based care goes beyond practical support. It is about humanity, compassion, and offering hope to those who need it most, especially during the most difficult times.

The Home-Based Care programme of the Zakarpattia regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross is supported by the Austrian Red Cross (NiNHealth+) and the Neighbour in Need Foundation (Austria).

We stand by those in need!
