First Aid from the Ukrainian Red Cross — simple, logical actions that can save lives in critical situations

  • First aid focuses on preserving a person’s life and health until professional medical help, such as an ambulance, arrives.

Wherever you are, after completing first aid training, you’ll be able to assist someone in an emergency safely and effectively, using only the materials available around you.

  • Ukrainian Red Cross training courses are certified by the Global First Aid Reference Centre of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

This means the entire training programme meets modern international first aid standards, including the latest updates from the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR).

  • Ukraine is among the first countries to adopt these updated guidelines and to be officially certified to deliver first aid training under them.

Nadiia Yamnenko, the only master first aid trainer in Ukraine and Head of the First Aid Department at the Ukrainian Red Cross, is one of just 27 experts worldwide who contribute to the development of global first aid guidelines. As a member of the Global First Aid Reference Centre of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, she ensures that Ukraine is among the first to receive all updates and international standards in first aid.

  • Our training programme is logical, practical, and easy to learn.

Anyone — regardless of profession or background — can acquire these vital skills. They are useful in everyday situations (such as cuts, kitchen burns, or when a child is choking) as well as in critical emergencies (like witnessing a car accident or noticing a sudden health issue in a colleague at work). In many cases, the actions taken by those nearby before the ambulance arrives are what determine the victim’s outcome.

Each year, around 100,000 people participate in our training sessions, seminars, and workshops. They gain knowledge that gives them confidence, precision, and the ability to act correctly in life-threatening situations — skills that, in today’s world, truly can save lives.
