The Ukrainian Red Cross responded to the aftermath of the Russian attack on Zhytomyr
Last night, the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Zhytomyr region quickly arrived at the scene of the attack. Volunteers set up an aid point where victims and emergency workers could receive essential support. Specifically, the volunteers were on hand to administer first aid, provide psychological first aid to those affected, and distribute hot drinks and water. One victim was transported to hospital.
Volunteers also provided residents of damaged homes with plastic sheeting and tarpaulin to temporarily cover their properties. This will help protect them from bad weather until repairs can be made.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, at least five multi-storey buildings were damaged, one of which caught fire. It has been reported that one person was killed and five others injured, including a child.
