Mine risk instructors conducted informational sessions for the residents of the Kherson region
To reduce risks and prevent tragedies, mine risk specialists from the Kherson regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross conducted a series of on-site information sessions in remote villages across the region. Residents were educated about the dangers of explosive devices and the safety rules to follow if they encountered one.
What should you do if you come across an explosive device?
- Stop! Keep a safe distance and do not investigate it.
- Do not touch! Explosive devices may be disguised or unstable.
- Do not move about recklessly! Stepping on a mine can trigger an explosion.
- Leave the area by the same route you entered.
- Immediately call emergency services by dialling 101 or 102.
Mine safety training is the first step towards saving lives. Red Cross specialists run classes for people of all ages, ensuring that everyone knows how to act in dangerous situations.
The Kherson region remains one of the most hazardous areas of Ukraine – the threat of explosive devices persists even after the hostilities have ended. These devices can be found on roads, in yards, fields, and even near residential buildings.
Stay alert! It is the best way to stay safe.
