The Norwegian Red Cross delegation visited the Dnipro region

A key focus of the Ukrainian Red Cross’s work is supporting and assisting people who have lost their most valuable possession – their homes – due to the ongoing military threat. The Dnipro region has become a refuge for nearly half a million internally displaced persons, with the city of Pavlohrad acting as a support hub for around 21,000 people.

The Norwegian Red Cross delegation included:

  • Ane Tvedt, Head of the Norwegian Red Cross in the European Region (Regional Representative for Europe)
  • Jørgen Haldorsen, Technical Director of International Programmes and Emergency Preparedness at the Norwegian Red Cross
  • Roar Dalmo Moltubak, Lead Communications Advisor.

The team visited the transit centre in Pavlohrad, where the Dnipro regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, in partnership with the Pavlohrad city-district branch, distributes essential humanitarian aid to internally displaced persons, including food parcels, bedding, and drinking water.

The Dnipro regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross also presented several projects being carried out in the Dnipro and Donetsk regions. One of these is an emergency response team, established to assist people with limited mobility during evacuation. In Dnipro, the emergency response team, along with volunteers, provides accommodation and support to evacuees.

To this end, a shelter has been opened in collaboration with international organisations, offering immediate and crucial assistance to those fleeing the shelling and in need of extra care.

We are grateful to our long-term international partner, the Norwegian Red Cross, for their ongoing support. Only through working together can we provide more help to those in need.
