Cherkasy Region: Ukrainian Red Cross Response at the Site of the Russian Attack

On the night of 18 February, the Cherkasy region was once again targeted by a Russian attack. According to the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, residential buildings were damaged by falling debris. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The Cherkasy regional emergency response team and emergency response specialists from the Cherkasy branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, along with representatives of local authorities, promptly arrived at the scene to provide necessary assistance.

An aid station was set up on-site, where those affected could receive:

  • hot drinks,
  • psychological support,
  • materials for temporary housing repairs (protective tarpaulin, OSB boards, plastic sheeting, etc.).

Currently, 13 residential buildings are reported to have been affected; around 100 windows have been shattered, and roofs, walls, and doors have been damaged. Moving forward, in collaboration with local authorities, we will assess the damage and provide assistance to the affected households with support from the Canadian Red Cross.
