“There will be support if you are ready to work towards your goal” — Hanna, a winner of the first stage of microgrant support under the “Reboot: Expanding Employment Opportunities” programme, implemented by the Ukrainian Red Cross and the Spanish Red Cross
Hanna’s journey from Kramatorsk to starting her own business began in 2014, when she was on maternity leave with her first child. When the war in Ukraine broke out, Kramatorsk became increasingly unsettled. Recognising the instability of the situation, she began searching for ideas for a hobby that could be turned into an additional source of income. Hanna discovered graphic design and started collaborating with coffee shops, restaurants, and flower shops, creating printed materials to help develop their businesses and increase brand awareness.
In 2022, Hanna registered a store on a marketplace, selling products for decorating children’s rooms, such as alphabets, height meters, and decor items. After the full-scale invasion, Hanna and her family relocated to the village of Dobrianka in the Vinnytsia region. However, she continued receiving orders from abroad despite the challenges posed by difficult logistics.
Participation in the Ukrainian Red Cross’s “Reboot: Expanding Employment Opportunities” programme marked an important milestone in Hanna’s life. It taught her courage and perseverance and offered her a fresh start. Thanks to the clear guidance provided, she successfully navigated each stage of the programme. With the microgrant she received, Hanna was able to purchase a high-quality laser cutting and engraving machine, enabling her to manufacture new products, expand her product line, attract new customers, and increase her sales internationally.
