Ukrainian Red Cross instructors are certified to conduct first aid training

To be qualified to teach first aid, Ukrainian Red Cross instructors must complete appropriate training, which includes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, as well as training in teaching methods. After this training, they are permitted to teach independently and are awarded a certificate. This certificate authorises the holder to teach first aid for a period of five years, in line with the certified programmes of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

However, the training doesn’t end there. Modern challenges, updates to first aid standards, and the development of certain skills necessitate regular refresher courses for instructors. These are periodic sessions where instructors are briefed on programme updates, ensuring they teach in accordance with the latest recommendations.

This approach to training instructors is essential. We ensure that individuals receive high-quality first aid training based on a programme certified by the IFRC Global First Aid Reference Centre, which incorporates the latest recommendations from the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR).

That is why we focus on training qualified specialists. For instance, last week, 11 existing instructors reaffirmed their certification to teach first aid, and 8 new instructors completed their training. After completing their internship, these new instructors will teach first aid in the Poltava region.
