The Ukrainian Red Cross, alongside its partners, continues to help restore the State Institution “Scientific and Practical Medical Centre for Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine,” which was damaged in a missile attack on Kyiv on 8 July 2024.

Representatives from the Canadian Red Cross, one of the partners funding the reconstruction, recently visited the Cardiac Centre to monitor progress. The visitors included Askar Umarbekov, Head of the European Region at the Canadian Red Cross; Celine McGarvey, Senior Regional Manager for Europe; and Mathieu Léonard, the Canadian Red Cross Representative in Ukraine.

During the visit, the progress of the repair and restoration work carried out by the Ukrainian Red Cross was assessed to ensure the medical facility can continue to operate reliably. Representatives from the Canadian Red Cross expressed their support for the project and emphasised the importance of contributing to the reconstruction of the Children’s Cardiac Centre to ensure quality medical care for children in urgent need of treatment.

It is worth noting that, thanks to the financial support of partners from the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, reconstruction of the damaged facility is underway, enabling the medical facility to return to full operation as soon as possible.
