Today, the team from the Cherkasy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross was working on-site to mitigate the consequences of another Russian UAV attack

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, a critical infrastructure facility in the Cherkasy region was targeted. There were no casualties, but private homes and multi-storey residential buildings, including roofs, windows, and balconies, were damaged. For some time, the city was without electricity and water supply.

Together with local authorities, volunteers from the Cherkasy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross visited households to assess the priority needs of people. They provided residents of the damaged homes with flashlights, drinking water, hygiene products, plastic sheeting, and OSB boards for temporary repairs.

The Cherkasy regional emergency response team assisted people with removing broken glass and temporarily covering the damaged windows with plastic sheeting and OSB boards. Volunteers from the psychosocial support team provided psychological first aid to those affected.

A total of 30 volunteers and staff from the Cherkasy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross were involved in the first stage of the response, working in coordination with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, and local authorities. In the future, the Cherkasy regional branch, with support from the Canadian Red Cross, will assist with the restoration of damaged homes.
