One million Ukrainians have contacted the Ukrainian Red Cross hotline
Since 24 February 2022, the Ukrainian Red Cross hotline has been operating on an ongoing basis, providing daily information and psychological support to the population.
“We receive calls on a wide range of issues. The operators not only provide comprehensive information support but are also trained to offer psychological first aid when needed,” said Mariia Nazarko, Head of the Ukrainian Red Cross Information Centre.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the hotline has significantly expanded its range of services. Operators now handle not only general inquiries but also provide assistance with psychosocial support, offer consultations on financial programmes, humanitarian aid, and various Ukrainian Red Cross projects, services, and activities. Additionally, they assist with requests related to the search for missing persons, conduct monitoring calls, and carry out social surveys.
Unlike standard helplines, the Ukrainian Red Cross hotline is distinguished by its multidisciplinary approach. Each request is reviewed individually, and operators strive to ensure that the person receives a response or is referred to the appropriate specialists.
On average, a hotline operator handles up to 100 incoming calls per day. Some of these calls are received through the Information Centre and the Unified Veterans Hotline, launched in April 2024 in cooperation with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine. Specifically, the Unified Veterans Hotline provides support to veterans, their families, and the families of fallen soldiers.
The Ukrainian Red Cross hotline is available daily from 09:00 to 18:00. Call 0 800 332 656 to receive consultations or psycho-emotional support. The hotline also has a specialist from the Tracing Service to assist with inquiries related to missing persons. All calls are free of charge.
