Analysis and Exchange of Experience Under the Winter Cash Assistance Programme

Thanks to the support of the Danish Red Cross, a workshop titled ‘Lessons Learned’ was held to summarise the results of the winter cash assistance programme. The event brought together 25 regional humanitarian aid specialists and experts from the Innovative Financing and Humanitarian Aid Unit of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross, all of whom had been involved in the programme.

The purpose of the event was to discuss the outcomes, challenges, and solutions encountered during the implementation of the programme, which was carried out under the CBOR initiative (Capacity Building and Operational Readiness of Ukrainian Red Cross regional branches in the field of cash assistance).

The main topics of the workshop were as follows:

  • overview of key results from the winter cash assistance programme,
  • challenges faced by regional teams,
  • practical cases and the exchange of successful strategies,
  • next steps in building operational readiness for Ukrainian Red Cross regional branches.

Participants actively worked in groups, shared their own experiences, and discussed ways to improve programme implementation. The event became an important platform for strengthening cooperation between teams from the Kyiv, Odesa, Donetsk, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Sumy, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv regions.

This meeting marked another step towards increasing the effectiveness of humanitarian initiatives aimed at supporting the most vulnerable populations during the difficult winter period.
