In the Kherson region, a mine risk awareness lesson was held for primary school children

Mines, regardless of their size, pose a constant deadly danger and can explode at any time. To ensure children’s safety, mine risk specialists from the Ukrainian Red Cross continue to actively raise awareness of these threats among the younger generation.

This session was conducted for primary school students with the support of the Department of Education and Humanitarian Development of the Chornobaivka Village Council in the Kherson region.

The event was based on the scenario “Not Toys: Learning to Recognise and Avoid Dangerous Objects.” During the information session, the children were introduced to the main risks posed by explosive devices, the rules for safe behaviour, and the steps to take if they encounter a dangerous object.

The key points the children learned were:

  • If you see a suspicious object, do not touch it, do not approach it, and immediately inform an adult or call 101 or 102.
  • Always stay in safe areas.
  • Follow the instructions of adults.

This knowledge serves as a shield of safety for our children. It helps protect life and health, reducing the risks that the younger generation may face in today’s realities.

The Ukrainian Red Cross is always here to protect and help.
