Khmelnytskyi: Supporting Children in Hospital
For the third consecutive year, the Christmas tree at Khmelnytskyi Regional Children’s Hospital has been adorned with handmade decorations crafted by the young patients together with Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers during psychosocial support sessions.
This initiative helps children experience the joy of the festive season, fosters their creativity, and provides them with positive emotions, which are crucial during their treatment. Even though the children are in the hospital, they are immersed in the holiday atmosphere, which positively impacts their psycho-emotional well-being and overall recovery.
“It is very important for us to provide psychosocial support to children, and we will continue to do so in 2025,” commented Nadiia Pylypchuk, Head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
“We crafted toys from everyday materials found at home,” said Anastasia Chehlakova, a volunteer with the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Unit of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
The children made the decorations themselves. This initiative was launched in 2022.
