Lviv hosted the conference “Western Region Meeting: Achievements and Development”
On 28-29 November 2024, a two-day conference, “Western Region Meeting: Achievements and Development,” was held in Lviv, bringing together five regional branches of the Ukrainian Red Cross, specialists from the Western Interregional Office of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross, and international delegates from the Red Cross movement.
The event aimed to strengthen cooperation between regional teams, specialists from the Western Interregional Office of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross, and partners to share experiences and discuss strategic goals for 2025.
The conference was attended by Mykola Polishchuk, President of the Ukrainian Red Cross, and Maksym Dotsenko, Director General, both of whom delivered welcoming speeches.
“People die alone, but they survive together. Today, we are united by the Ukrainian Red Cross and a large number of partners. The truth will always triumph over lies, and we are on the side of truth,” stated Mykola Polishchuk, President of the Ukrainian Red Cross, in his speech.
Over the course of two days, participants discussed the achievements of recent years, the challenges faced by the organisations, and presented strategic plans for the future. The Lviv regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross organised visits to district branches to showcase the results of the changes implemented since 2022.
“We have more victories than defeats, and it is important to recognise this, because the focus is usually on what still needs to be improved. Sharing our achievements is a step towards realising the scale of the great work we are doing,” emphasised Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
International partners joined the discussions and shared their expectations for updating the strategies of regional branches and setting priorities for 2025.
The conference was an important step towards achieving the ambitious goals of the Ukrainian Red Cross, aimed at strengthening organisational capacity in the region and improving quality planning.
