“There were tears of despair, tears of fear for the fate of my son, fear of the unknown,” said Halyna, who turned to the Ukrainian Red Cross Tracing Service to find her missing son

Recently, Halyna reached out to the Tracing Service of the Lviv regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross with her grief and pain. On 11 November this year, she received the devastating news that her son Ihor had gone missing while performing a combat mission near Chasiv Yar.

When Halyna learned about the opportunity to contact the Ukrainian Red Cross, she visited the local branch of the organisation. She was overwhelmed with emotions and could not hold back her tears as she recalled her son — from his birth to the moment he volunteered to defend Ukraine at the outbreak of the war. The volunteers helped Halyna fill out an application form to be submitted to the relevant services and provided her with the necessary psychosocial support. As a result, she found the strength to begin the difficult process of searching for her son. Halyna’s family was also included in the humanitarian support programme, which will continue until the fate of her missing son, Ihor, is determined.
