Celebrate Safely: A Reminder of the Dangers of Mines and the Rules of Safe Behaviour

The winter holidays are a time for warm gatherings, walks in snowy parks, and fun outdoor activities. Unfortunately, even during the festive season, we must remember the harsh reality that threatens many Ukrainians: explosive ordnance does not take a holiday.

Mines and unexploded ordnance can be concealed under the snow, in fields, forested areas, or even near residential buildings. Therefore, it is essential to remain vigilant, especially when planning a winter trip or walk.

Tips for safe holidays:

  • Avoid visiting areas that have been affected by hostilities, such as roadsides, fields, abandoned buildings, and other hazardous areas.
  • Pay attention to warning signs. Both official and even homemade signs may indicate mined areas.
  • Avoid walking in unfamiliar areas. If you’re holidaying outside the city, stick to well-established routes.
  • Teach your children the safety rules. Remind them not to pick up or touch any toys, shiny objects, or unfamiliar items.

If you come across a suspicious object: stop, stay calm, move to a safe place, and report it by calling 101 or 102.

The holiday season is a time for joy, but remember that safety should always come first. Take care of yourself and your loved ones, and share these rules with them.

We are here to remind you that knowledge saves lives.
