The Ukrainian Red Cross trainers in international humanitarian law exchanged experiences with Danish colleagues
As part of the long-standing cooperation between the Ukrainian Red Cross and the Danish Red Cross in the field of international humanitarian law, a visit by Ukrainian volunteer trainers to Denmark was organised.
Since the beginning of 2023, the Danish Red Cross has increased its support to the Ukrainian Red Cross in the field of international humanitarian law (IHL), training more than 55 volunteer trainers as part of a comprehensive five-month programme. Recognising the need for qualified specialists in IHL, the Danish colleagues invited representatives from the IHL Unit and volunteers to participate in the training and exchange of experiences.
It should be noted that the Danish Red Cross has extensive experience in effectively working with volunteers, using modern tools and techniques to disseminate knowledge of international humanitarian law among various target audiences.
The visit lasted four days, during which Ukrainian colleagues were trained in humanitarian diplomacy, public communications, and methods for effectively disseminating knowledge about international humanitarian law. Much attention was devoted to the exchange of experiences between Ukrainian and Danish volunteers, who discussed current issues and challenges related to the war.
During the visit, the Ukrainian and Danish Red Crosses discussed further cooperation in international humanitarian law, agreed upon joint plans, and strengthened their partnership.
