Starting Her Own Business Thanks to the Ukrainian Red Cross Programme: The Story of Olha from Berdiansk
“I was forced to leave my home and job, but thanks to the programme, I was able to start my own business in Cherkasy.” — Olha, participant in the “Reboot: Expanding Employment Opportunities” programme
Like many residents of Ukraine, Olha was forced to flee her home in Berdiansk and relocate with her son to Cherkasy due to the full-scale war. After losing her previous job, Olha started over from scratch and decided to take a manicure course in her new city. Upon completing the course, she began building her own client base and opened a nail studio. She has since continued to improve her skills.
When Olha learned about the Ukrainian Red Cross “Reboot: Expanding Employment Opportunities” programme, implemented with the support of the Spanish Red Cross, she applied for a microgrant. Olha was selected as one of the winners and will use the funds to purchase equipment and materials to set up her studio.
