Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Red Cross has organised social support events for hundreds of families of missing and captured persons

The number of people who have gone missing or been captured has increased since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Having lost contact with their loved ones, many relatives are left in a difficult psychological state and require ongoing emotional support. The Ukrainian Red Cross Tracing Service specialists, along with volunteers involved in restoring family links, are working across Ukraine to respond to requests and assist those in need.

Since the beginning of this year alone, the team has organised more than 70 events. These include social meetings, support groups, excursions, outdoor walks, and other activities. The goal of all these initiatives is to help participants reintegrate into society, restore a sense of security, and return to a more normal life. Our team maintains regular contact with the families of missing persons and prisoners of war, offering support to ensure they feel they are not alone, that their feelings are valid, and that they can share them with like-minded individuals in a safe environment.

It is worth noting that the volunteers’ work in restoring family links is carried out with the support of the British Red Cross.
