The Ukrainian Red Cross has handed over generators to agencies of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine

Generators were provided as part of the collaboration between the Ukrainian Red Cross and the Ministry of Social Policy to ensure the continued operation of the Ministry’s facilities during critical situations. This contribution will enhance the safety and comfort of facilities that offer social services to those in greatest need.

Nine generators, with capacities ranging from 15 to 45 kVA, were distributed to the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, Poltava, and Kyiv regions. These regions accommodate institutions that were relocated from Kramatorsk, where people affected by the war are undergoing rehabilitation.

“Supporting our country’s social institutions during these challenging times is our priority. We are actively preparing for the winter period and potential power outages by providing humanitarian aid in the form of generators, particularly to medical and educational facilities across the country. We want Ukrainians to have access to social and medical services regardless of the circumstances,” said Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

Oksana Zholnovych, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, emphasised that collaboration with the Ukrainian Red Cross is focused on providing stable support for institutions that carry out vital social missions.

“Russian troops are attacking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure daily. However, despite the war, people must receive the necessary support at the appropriate level without interruption. This is why these generators are crucial for us. Thank you for your help,” stated Oksana Zholnovych.

Additionally, the two parties collaborate on various social programmes under a recently signed Memorandum. Specifically, the Ukrainian Red Cross is implementing a pilot project in a community in the Kherson region to introduce a comprehensive social service aimed at building resilience. This initiative includes establishing a Resilience Centre, a dedicated space where people can access social services.
