Unwavering Support: Continuing Food Parcel Distribution to Kherson Residents

The food parcels distributed to elderly residents of Kherson, in cooperation with the World Food Programme, provide essential support. They are especially valuable for those with limited mobility and disabilities, helping them endure the worsening humanitarian conditions and the near-constant shelling of the city by Russian troops.

The joint programme of the Ukrainian Red Cross and the World Food Programme has been in operation since February 2023. It provides vital assistance to elderly residents of Kherson aged 60 and above and people with disabilities. The aid consists of food parcels containing essential items such as pasta, cereals, sugar, canned goods, oil, and more. Each parcel weighs 13 kg.

Volunteers from the Kherson regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross deliver humanitarian aid to areas where residents have been confined to their homes for days due to constant shelling. The deliveries are made virtually door-to-door, minimising the risk to recipients. For many elderly individuals, receiving this support is a matter of survival, as it is often too dangerous for them to leave their homes or visit stores to buy food.

We stand by those in need!
