In the Volyn region, a psychologist supports patients undergoing treatment for tuberculosis
World Mental Health Day, celebrated in October, aims to assist individuals facing difficult times, helping them build the willpower and resilience to cope with life’s challenges.
Tuberculosis is a serious infectious disease that can significantly impact psychological well-being. Patients often experience a gloomy mood, pessimism, and anxiety—not only about their own health but also concerning the health of their loved ones, particularly children.
The psychologist is involved in the implementation of the Alliance for Public Health project, “Increasing the Adherence of Patients with Drug-Susceptible and Resistant Tuberculosis to Treatment Through Medical and Psychosocial Support,” which falls under the broader initiative, “Sustainable Response to HIV and TB Epidemics in the Context of War and Recovery of Ukraine.” This role includes providing essential psycho-emotional support to patients, assisting them in overcoming life challenges, and helping them identify achievable life goals related to their health.
In a designated play space, children engage in creative activities, play board games, and enjoy positive experiences alongside the psychologist, fostering both fun and emotional well-being.
As a result of consultations and ongoing preventive and psycho-corrective work with patients, their psychological state during tuberculosis treatment improves significantly.
