Activities of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Dnipro Region
Information about the suspension of the Red Cross mission in Dnipro is being circulated online.
We would like to inform you that the Ukrainian Red Cross continues to operate in the Dnipro region and is, in fact, working at an increased capacity. Despite the almost daily shelling, the region remains a refuge for internally displaced people.
Every day, Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams in Dnipro and other cities in the region meet evacuation trains from frontline areas and assist people with limited mobility and passengers with children in reaching temporary shelters. It is important that IDP families receive not only food and hygiene kits but also kitchenware, blankets, and bed linen.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 1 million people have received various forms of assistance.
Overall, since February 2022, the Dnipro regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross has:
- Implemented the operation of 10 mobile health units that visit remote communities and provide medical care to the population; as a result, 66,000 patients have received consultations, including 10,000 who have received psychological assistance.
- Distributed over 246,000 food parcels and hygiene kits.
- Handed over 10 water treatment plants to communities affected by the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP.
- Carried out repairs in 12 medical facilities and supplied 11 additional facilities with the necessary equipment.
- Provided assistance and support through 60 social assistants to 285 beneficiaries of the home-based care programme, including 52 people with disabilities and 34 internally displaced persons.
- Installed 5 mobile shelters.
In addition, the Dnipro regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross has recently signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Dnipro Regional Employment Centre to enhance collaboration in providing information and counselling services to war veterans, internally displaced persons, family members of deceased service personnel, and refugees who have returned to Ukraine. The Ukrainian Red Cross not only supports people with humanitarian aid but also creates additional job opportunities.
We stand by those in need!
