The team from the Zhytomyr regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross participated in a training programme aimed at developing children’s emotional resilience

Volunteers from five communities in the region were trained in the methodology “Programme for the Development of Children’s Emotional Resilience: Psychological Support at School and Beyond.” The goal is to improve children’s psychosocial well-being and safeguarding. The programme acknowledges the crucial role of parents and guardians, teachers, and social workers. It aims to ensure they are adequately prepared to support and safeguard children within their home environment.

Participants gained knowledge and practised skills in facilitation, teamwork, maintaining discipline, creating a safe environment, understanding child protection, volunteer responsibilities, and event structure. They also focused on the importance of support for children and adults and attended a session on self-care.

These two days were crucial for the team’s development and provided an opportunity to advance to the second level of support in delivering psychosocial services. This manual was developed by the IFRC Psychosocial Support Centre with support from Save the Children International NGO and adapted by the Ukrainian Red Cross.
