Events dedicated to the International Day of the Disappeared

On the International Day of the Disappeared, the Ukrainian Red Cross held meetings and thematic events for mothers, wives and children of missing persons in many cities of Ukraine to support them and emphasise that they are not alone in this challenging period.

In Poltava, at the Young Patriot children’s and youth club, and in Ivano-Frankivsk, volunteers conducted a presentation for children and parents on “How Not to Get Lost.” The participants were introduced to basic steps for preventing getting lost, what to do if it happens, and where to seek help. The children engaged in games that simulated various scenarios to help them better understand the appropriate actions to take.

In Zaporizhzhia and Khmelnytskyi, the Tracing Service team met with the families of missing persons and prisoners of war. These meetings allowed family members to express their emotions, remember their loved ones, and receive psychological support.

The disappearance of a loved one is a tragedy for family members, who grapple with the uncertainty of their loved one’s fate and the despair of potentially never seeing them again. This is why our team is dedicated to supporting everyone in need.

It is important to note that everyone has the right to know the fate of their missing loved ones.
