The Ukrainian Red Cross responded to the aftermath of an overnight attack in Kharkiv

The Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team worked at the site of an overnight attack in Kharkiv alongside other emergency services.
Volunteers surveyed damaged buildings and surrounding areas to identify affected people, took part in search-and-rescue operations, and helped evacuate residents from a damaged multi-storey building.

They provided first aid to injured people and handed them over to emergency medical teams. Volunteers also provided psychological first aid to people experiencing acute stress reactions.

A Ukrainian Red Cross assistance point is currently operating at the site, where people affected by the attack can receive humanitarian assistance, including OSB boards and tarpaulins for temporarily protecting damaged homes, bedding and hygiene kits, drinking water, and other essential items. People can also get water, tea or coffee, have a snack, and receive psychological support.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, more than 20 people, including eight children, were injured as a result of the Russian attack on Kharkiv’s Saltivskyi and Kyivskyi districts. The attack caused structural damage to flats on the lower floors of a nine-storey residential building.
