The Ukrainian Red Cross responded to the aftermath of attacks in Zhytomyr and Khmelnytskyi

Following recent attacks, infrastructure in the Zhytomyr region was damaged. Emergency services and the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team worked at the affected sites. Volunteers joined the response, provided drinking water to State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) responders, and remained on duty to provide prompt assistance during rescue operations.

According to the SESU, administrative buildings and a power line were damaged by Russian strikes in different parts of the region. Windows of a healthcare facility and a children’s facility, as well as residential buildings, were damaged, and the roof of an outbuilding was also affected. Fires caused by the attacks were extinguished.

Today, in Khmelnytskyi, the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team worked at the site of another attack together with the SESU. Volunteers assisted in evacuating residents, surveyed the area, and provided psychological first aid.

According to the SESU, a multi-storey residential building was damaged in the attack, with windows shattered, a gas pipeline and balconies damaged, and vehicles parked nearby also affected. Thirty-five people, including five children, were evacuated from the building. According to preliminary information, no one was injured.
