The Ukrainian Red Cross joined the 2026 All-Ukrainian Congress on Physical Therapy

On 19–20 September, Lviv hosted the 2026 All-Ukrainian Congress on Physical Therapy “The Value of Collaboration”, bringing together professionals to exchange experience and discuss ways to further develop Ukraine’s rehabilitation system.

Over two days, 500 specialists, representatives of organisations, and international experts discussed new approaches to physical therapy, rehabilitation following combat-related injuries, community-based services, professional education, and patient-centred care.

The Ukrainian Red Cross Physical Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation team shared its experience of working in communities, supporting patients at home, and promoting a continuous pathway to recovery.

For the Ukrainian Red Cross, taking part in events like this is an opportunity to share experience, learn from others, build partnerships, and strengthen the professional community. It also helps advance access to high-quality rehabilitation services in communities across Ukraine.

Collaboration, knowledge sharing, and collective responsibility are essential to building a rehabilitation system that helps people regain independence, confidence, and the ability to live full lives.

The event was organised by the All-Ukrainian Association of Physical Therapists and the Patients of Ukraine Charitable Foundation as part of the TRUE initiative, with support from Switzerland, the Ukrainian Red Cross, the Belgian Development Agency Enabel, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Ukrainian-Norwegian rehabilitation project Sunnaas sykehus HF, Soleterre, the Zaporuka Charitable Foundation, and the Institute of Vertebrology and Rehabilitation. The event was also supported by Tetiana Lomakina, Adviser – Presidential Commissioner for Barrier-Free Environment, and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Red Cross will continue to develop partnerships, strengthen professional cooperation, and support initiatives that contribute to high-quality and accessible rehabilitation services in Ukraine.
