Japanese Red Cross delegation visits Ivano-Frankivsk region

Representatives of the Japanese Red Cross Society paid a working visit to the Ivano-Frankivsk region to learn more about the work of the Ukrainian Red Cross and the humanitarian programmes being implemented in the region.

During the visit, the delegation met with the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Volunteers gave an overview of the team’s main areas of work, including emergency response, assistance to people affected by the war, receiving evacuation trains, and transporting people with limited mobility.

Particular attention was given to volunteer training, the team’s equipment and operational capacity, its practical experience, and the challenges volunteers face while carrying out their humanitarian mission.

A distinctive aspect of the emergency response team’s work in the Ivano-Frankivsk region is its involvement in mountain search and rescue operations. The team regularly takes part in joint exercises with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and shares its expertise with volunteers from other regions of Ukraine.

Representatives of the Japanese Red Cross Society also shared their experience in deploying Medical Relief Teams and delivering Snow Safety courses in Japan, creating a valuable opportunity for professional exchange.

The delegation also viewed a vehicle purchased with the support of the Japanese Red Cross Society to strengthen the operational capacity of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Visits such as these promote the exchange of experience between Red Cross National Societies, strengthen professional cooperation, and reinforce partnerships.
