The Ukrainian Red Cross launches the Reboot programme in Dnipro

In May, the “Reboot: Expanding Employment Opportunities” team officially began its work in Dnipro. This is already the 12th region of Ukraine where the programme’s offline service centre operates, supporting people who have lost their jobs, want to change professions, or need support to develop their own businesses.

“It is very important for us that Reboot has opened here in Dnipro. Many people from frontline areas come here, and their number continues to grow. I have worked in the employment sector for more than 7 years and know that people need practical solutions. That is why we carefully assessed the situation and launched courses that match current labour market needs and lead directly to employment opportunities,” says programme coordinator Lidiia Sysoieva.

Since the start of the full-scale war, the Dnipro region has become one of the largest host regions for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ukraine. According to the Dnipro Regional Military Administration, more than 451,000 IDPs are currently living in the region. Among them are older people, people with disabilities, and families with children.

The regional labour market is experiencing staff shortages across various sectors — from technical and IT fields to service and skilled trades professions. This is why the programme is tailored to the actual needs of local employers.

As part of the programme, participants receive not only one-off consultations, but comprehensive support throughout their journey towards employment, including:

  • individual career guidance;
  • training courses in relevant skills;
  • psychosocial support;
  • connections with employers;
  • support for microbusiness initiatives.

The programme is open to internally displaced people registered in the Dnipro region, as well as local residents belonging to vulnerable groups, including low-income families, people with disabilities, single parents, large families, older people, and demobilised military personnel.

Available training courses include:

  • logistics;
  • entrepreneurship;
  • 3D modelling;
  • painting and plastering;
  • pet grooming;
  • confectionery and pastry-making;
  • social care services, and more.⠀
