Preparedness for challenges: Ukrainian Red Cross and State Emergency Service review winter response and discuss further coordination amid ongoing threats

The Ukrainian Red Cross held a coordination meeting with the Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Volodymyr Demchuk, to review the outcomes of their joint winter response and to discuss preparedness for potential challenges during the summer period.

The discussion focused on the response to the impact of attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, particularly in Kyiv. Participants undertook a detailed review of inter-agency cooperation, identified effective coordination mechanisms, and highlighted areas requiring further strengthening.

Particular attention was given to response protocols in the event of renewed attacks on critical infrastructure. The role and operational capacity of the Ukrainian Red Cross in such scenarios were discussed, including the rapid mobilisation of volunteers and resources, as well as strengthened coordination with the State Emergency Service and other relevant services.

The Ukrainian Red Cross remains committed to strengthening partnerships to ensure timely, effective, and needs-based assistance to those most affected.
