Henty Doll: How Kindergartens in the Ternopil Region Teach Children First Aid
In kindergartens across the Ternopil region, children are learning to save lives with the help of a toy volunteer — a doll named Henry.
In Velyki Birky, preschoolers practise first aid in a playful way, learning how to respond in emergency situations. Watch how the children interact with their new friend and why the programme is planned to expand to other regions in 2026.
The pilot project “Henry – First Aid for Children”, supported by the Norwegian Red Cross, has already reached 75 kindergartens in the Ternopil, Chernihiv, and Mykolaiv regions. Its goal is to teach children the basics of first aid in a simple, playful format: how to respond to injuries, nosebleeds, or falls.
Training is delivered by educators, specially trained, who use the Henry doll and supporting teaching materials.
