The Ukrainian Red Cross evacuated 35 residents of a residential care home for people with intellectual and mental health disabilities from the Zaporizhzhia region
Due to the deterioration of the security situation and the increased intensity of shelling in frontline communities in the Zaporizhzhia region, evacuation efforts are ongoing to protect the most vulnerable population groups. Recently, a team from the Ukrainian Red Cross, acting on a request from the Department of Social Protection of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, facilitated the evacuation of 35 residents of a residential care home for people with intellectual and mental health disabilities.
The Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Zaporizhzhia region assisted residents with boarding and provided accompaniment during the evacuation. Vehicles with drivers were made available for the operation, enabling the safe and timely transportation of those evacuated. They were transferred to specialised facilities in the Kyiv region, where appropriate living conditions, care, and the necessary medical support will be provided.
We continue our work to help residents of frontline areas reach safer locations.
We stand by those in need.
