Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross Participates in the Sixth Humanitarian Senior Officials Meeting on Ukraine
Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross, participated in the Sixth Humanitarian Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) on Ukraine, convened by the European Commission in Brussels.
The meeting brought together representatives of leading humanitarian organisations, international partners, and the Government of Ukraine, including Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. Discussions focused on assessing Ukraine’s humanitarian needs and ensuring the effective delivery of assistance amid the consequences of large-scale attacks on energy infrastructure.
The meeting addressed the current humanitarian situation in Ukraine and explored ways to ensure sustained humanitarian support. Particular attention was given to the key challenges facing the humanitarian response and to the needs of affected communities, especially in light of repeated attacks on critical infrastructure and their impact on people’s lives, notably during periods of low temperatures.
The Ukrainian Red Cross expresses its gratitude to the European Union and partners within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement for their trust, support, and solidarity. Thanks to this support, humanitarian assistance can reach people in a timely manner and respond to the real needs of communities across the country.
