In 2022, Iryna had to leave her hometown of Soledar in the Donetsk region after sustaining serious injuries. She brought her cat, Muska, with her to Cherkasy, where Muska has since given birth to three kittens.

Thanks to the Ukrainian Red Cross programme and support from Humane World for Animals, internally displaced people receive assistance for their furry companions — including pet food, medication drops, carriers, cat litter, and, starting in 2025, leashes for walks.

“We received dry cat food with chicken flavour, which she really loves. Two bags, six kilos — it lasted us a year. It helps financially a lot,” says Iryna.

Even far from home, pets should feel cared for and bring joy to their owners. We are here to make that possible.
