The Director General of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation visited the Ukrainian Red Cross

A delegation from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, led by its Director General, Gunn Jorid Roset, together with representatives of the Norwegian Red Cross, recently visited Ukraine. The visit offered an important opportunity to demonstrate to partners the significance of the Ukrainian Red Cross’s work and the role of its emergency response teams, explain how we coordinate with state services, and outline future needs and plans.

During the visit, our Norwegian colleagues gained a deeper understanding of the Ukrainian Red Cross’s work in emergency response. They were also briefed on the efforts of first responders from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams, who work together to respond to emergencies, assist residents of damaged homes, carry out evacuations, provide first aid and deliver other essential support. The partners also visited residential buildings in Kyiv that had been affected by recent attacks, witnessing first-hand the scale of damage to civilian infrastructure.

The Norwegian delegation praised the strong coordination between the Ukrainian Red Cross and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, emphasising the importance of this cooperation amid ongoing attacks on infrastructure and civilian facilities.

We are grateful to our partners from Norway for their attention to the situation in Ukraine and for their willingness to support and strengthen our capacity to respond to emergencies.
