Thanks to the support of the Ukrainian Red Cross, a new rehabilitation space has opened at the medical faculty of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University in Lutsk

The facility is equipped with modern exercise machines donated by the Ukrainian Red Cross, with support from the German Red Cross. The equipment includes a rehabilitation treadmill with real-time feedback, a recumbent exercise bike with multiple programmes, a cross-trainer, a multi-function strength training machine, and more.

A physical therapist and a physical therapist assistant from the Ukrainian Red Cross mobile rehabilitation units will work alongside the teaching and therapy staff of the University’s Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Departments. They will assess patients’ conditions and develop personalised recovery plans.

Special attention will be given to demobilised military personnel and individuals in need of support to maintain their functional status following injury, trauma, or illness. Volunteers specialising in physical and mental rehabilitation will also contribute to the work.

Representatives from the university, local authorities, and the Ukrainian Red Cross attended the opening event to support the initiative and learn more about its potential impact on the community.

This rehabilitation space in Lutsk stands as an example of partnership in action, bringing recovery and support closer to those who need it most.
