Ukrainian Red Cross Staff Injured in UAV Attack in Kherson

Yesterday, on 15 September at approximately 17:30, a clearly marked Ukrainian Red Cross vehicle was struck by a drone in the Kherson region. The vehicle sustained significant damage. On board were two staff members from the Kherson regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, who were returning from an information session on mine risk awareness.

Despite the damage, the vehicle managed to reach the nearest city hospital, where both staff members received medical treatment.

According to the Kherson Regional Military Administration, on the same day, Russian forces shelled villages and towns in the Kherson and Beryslav districts using artillery, mortars, and drones.

We categorically condemn the targeting of vehicles marked with the Red Cross emblem and attacks on humanitarian personnel. Such actions represent a clear violation of international humanitarian law.

We call for full compliance with international humanitarian law and respect for the work of humanitarian organisations.

Despite the ongoing danger and daily shelling, the Ukrainian Red Cross remains committed to its humanitarian mission.
