Mobile Rehabilitation Units Now Operating in the Ternopil Region
Since May, residents of the Ternopil region who require rehabilitation services can now receive support directly in their homes. Mobile Rehabilitation Units (MRUs) have been launched in the region, with the Vyshnivets, Khorostkiv, and Kopychyntsi communities among the first to benefit.
MRU specialists work with individuals needing to restore motor functions or improve their physical and emotional well-being, including those recovering from injuries, strokes, surgeries, limb loss, or joint replacements. Their goal is to help people recover not only physically but also to reintegrate into socially active lives.
During a home visit, a physical therapist and a physical therapist’s assistant will:
- assess the individual’s physical condition and develop a personalised rehabilitation plan
- conduct rehabilitation sessions tailored to the person’s recovery prognosis
- provide assistive rehabilitation devices if needed (e.g., walking frames, canes, crutches, wheelchairs)
- assess living conditions and offer recommendations for improvement
How to access support
Rehabilitation services are available through a referral from a family doctor, other medical professionals, healthcare facilities, social services, or Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers.
You can also apply directly by calling the Ukrainian Red Cross hotline: 0 800 332 656.
Additionally, by the end of 2025, the Ukrainian Red Cross mobile rehabilitation units will begin operating in three more regions: Odesa, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia. Starting this year, the project will operate in 13 regions across Ukraine.
Together, we continue to make community rehabilitation more accessible!
