Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Activities Launched in Kharkiv Region
The Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Programme of the Ukrainian Red Cross has been launched in the Kharkiv region, with the support of the French Red Cross. The programme is currently being implemented for residents of the Berestyn, Izium, and Lozova communities. Health consultants have been trained and, starting this month, have begun delivering informational and practical sessions for both the Ukrainian Red Cross team and the local population.
For participants aged 10 and over, the sessions include:
- Practical sessions, such as blood pressure measurement and general health monitoring
- Informational sessions on healthy lifestyles, the development of healthy habits, and the prevention of both non-communicable diseases (e.g., cardiovascular diseases, diabetes) and communicable diseases (e.g., tuberculosis, hepatitis, COVID-19)
- Motivational interviews with individuals who need support in changing their behaviour and improving their health, for example, to overcome harmful habits
- Promotion of blood donation and vaccination
These activities are conducted in collaboration with the Home-Based Care Programme, Active Longevity Clubs, and mobile health units.
Caring for our physical health and encouraging healthy lifestyles is a shared responsibility!
